East African Community on X: "🤝Today, the EAC Secretary General, Amb. Stephen Mbundi received the Letter of Credence of Ms. Elke Wisch, UNICEF Representative to Tanzania, @UNICEFTanzania, accrediting her as UNICEF Representative to the EAC and reinforcing a partnership that is helping shape a more resilient and inclusive East Africa. The engagement reaffirmed a shared commitment to improving the lives of children across East Africa through expanded cooperation in child rights and protection, neonatal mortality rates, humanitarian action, and disaster preparedness. Discussions also advanced the renewal of the EAC–UNICEF MoU, which will provide a stronger and more comprehensive framework for joint action and greater impact across the region. UNICEF is also supporting the revision of the EAC Child Policy to ensure it remains responsive to emerging challenges and opportunities affecting children across the Community. Together, the EAC and UNICEF are working to build a more resilient, inclusive and prosperous East Africa where every child is protected, empowered and given the opportunity to thrive. @UNICEFAfrica @UNICEF"
