IAU Focus Meetings

Focus Meetings (FM) are held exclusively during an IAU General Assembly (GA) and address scientific themes of interest to a group of IAU Members willing to promote a new scientific area or an emerging field, not well, or not at all, represented in the existing IAU Commissions.  Up to 12 Focus Meetings are approved for every GA year, each nominally comprising six 1.5 hour sessions (plus posters). The deadline for the submission of Focus Meetings proposals is 1 December, two years before the year of the GA. For further details, please refer to the Rules and Guidelines for IAU Scientific Meetings.

The IAU is currently in the process of selecting Focus Meetings to take place during the 2027 GA. The call for Letters of Intent (LoI) is closed, and all LoIs submitted for 2027 Focus Meetings can be found on the 2027 LoI webpage.
